This movie touches upon truths that maybe in 1993 were a bit difficult for the world to 'swallow' - most striking is the character portrayed by Denzel Washington - homophobic, very much a straight man who candidly opens up to his wife. He takes that view point into the trial which leads to courtroom drama. Joanne Woodward is stunning as the mother of Tom Hanks - she isn't on the screen that much but when she is - she eats up the screen and the scene. The script is solid, the direction as well, the acting is superb.
