CTTT-RVA 3rd Tuesday Dinner Gathering

February 18, 2020 - 6:00 p.m. 8:30 pm
Ginter Park Presbyterian Church 3601 Seminary Avenue 23227

During this Black History Month we welcome you back to our 3rd Tuesday dinner and conversation gathering to listen to a bit of the story of Virginia's own Martha Ann Fields, an enslaved Black woman, as she recounts the night she escaped to freedom with her eight children. Her story is one of love, heartbreak and courage. You will leave with a better understanding of the lives of the enslaved and how they persevered in spite of the oppression, cruelty and inequity they faced. Valerie "Yemima" Davis uses her historical interpretations to restore lost narratives of enslaved people and gives them a voice they've never had.
