Cheryl Goode

I am Cheryl Goode and I am from Richmond, Virginia. My first Coming to the Table encounter was on the third Tuesday of December 2016. Trump had just been elected president, black men were continuously being murdered by police, there were daily debates over flags, statues, Klansmen, and also over who could truly be considered a racist. And in the mist of these dark days CTTT-RVA offers a safe place for all who are interested in acknowledging and healing from the harms of our racial past. I often say that I drank the CTTT-RVA Kool-Aid because I seized every CTTT opportunity that I could. I was invited to lead the book circle, to help facilitate table conversations, to co-facilitate a second night of CTTT dinner conversations, to dabble with the newsletter, to attend and work on racial healing tours and pilgrimages. I was allowed at attend classes to develop and strengthen my knowledge of circle process skills.  CTTT became the therapeutic salve that I needed when I needed it most. Here I have made many new friends black and white. Here is where I place hope that we will through truth and love be able to realize this great organizations mission and vision.

"The problems of racial injustice and economic injustice cannot be solved without a radical redistribution of political and economic power."
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
